Important Info (Visa Lounge Pro-Tips)
No Visa on Arrival: Indian ordinary passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport in Istanbul. You must have your e-Visa or sticker visa before you fly.
The “Used Visa” Myth: Unlike some countries, Türkiye generally allows you to use the e-Visa facility even if your supporting US/Schengen visa is unused, as long as it is valid on the date you enter Türkiye.
Transit Secret: If you have a layover in Istanbul under 24 hours and stay in the transit area, you don’t need a visa. But if you want to see the Blue Mosque during a long layover, you’ll need an e-Visa or a Transit Visa.
VFS Exclusive: As of January 12, 2026, Gateway International has handed over operations to VFS Global. Make sure you book your appointment on the new VFS portal.
Can I apply for an Turkey visa online?
Partially. You can fill the application form online and book appointments through Visa lounge website https://visalounge.in/ .
1. What is the processing time for a Türkiye Sticker Visa?
The standard processing time is 10 to 15 working days. During peak travel seasons (April–June), it is advisable to apply at least three weeks in advance.
2. Is a physical interview required at the Consulate?
Generally, no. However, the Turkish Consulate reserves the right to call any applicant for a personal interview if they require further clarification on your travel intent or finances.
3. Can I apply for an e-Visa if my US/Schengen visa is currently unused?
Yes. Unlike some nations, Türkiye permits the use of a valid supporting visa for an e-Visa even if you have not yet traveled to the country that issued the supporting visa.
4. What are the total costs for a Sticker Visa in 2026?
The total budget should include the Embassy fee (approx. ₹5,000–₹5,500) and the VFS service fee (approx. ₹4,000), totaling roughly ₹9,000 to ₹10,000 for a single-entry tourist visa.
5. Is travel insurance mandatory for the e-Visa application?
While not uploaded during the online e-Visa process, you are required to hold a valid insurance policy upon arrival in Türkiye. Immigration officers may request to see this before granting entry.
6. My photo is 3.5×4.5cm. Can I use it?
No. Türkiye is exceptionally strict regarding the 2.5 x 2.5 inch square format. Using incorrect dimensions is a frequent cause for application returns at the VFS counter.
7. Can I perform business activities on a Tourist Visa?
The Turkish Tourist Visa (or e-Visa) allows for casual business meetings and conferences. However, for any gainful employment or long-term technical montage work, a dedicated Work Visa is required.
