Mandatory Document Checklist 

Brazil requires a Sticker Visa (VIVIS) for most Indian regular passport holders, though an e-visa system exists for specific conferences or special nationalities.

• Passport: Original passport valid for at least 6 months with at least two blank pages.

• Visa Request Form (RER): You must fill out the form online, upload all documents, and then print the RER Receipt (one page) which must be signed and have your photo glued to it.

• Photographs: 2 recent photos, 2 x 2 inches (standard square size), white background, matte finish.

• Cover Letter: A formal letter detailing your travel dates, purpose, and itinerary.

• Financial Proof (Mandatory):

  • Bank Statements: Original stamped/signed statements for the last 3 to 6 months.

  • ITR: Income Tax Returns for the last 3 years.

  • Minimum Balance: A recommended balance of ₹1.5 Lakhs to ₹2 Lakhs to show you can support yourself without working locally.

• Travel Itinerary: Confirmed round-trip flight tickets and hotel bookings.

• Yellow Fever Certificate: While not always asked for at Brazilian immigration, it is mandatory for re-entry into India if you have visited Brazil. You must get this at least 10 days before your trip.

• New 10-Year Validity: The new rule allows you to hold a single visa for 10 years, allowing stays of up to 90 days per visit for tourists.

• VFS Global: Brazil has shifted much of its processing to VFS Global in India. You must book an appointment to submit your physical documents and passport.

• Business vs. Tourism: If you are traveling for a meeting or a conference, you must apply for a Business Visa (VITEM II). Using a Tourist Visa for business meetings is technically not permitted and can lead to entry issues.

• Minor Applicants: Brazil is extremely strict about children. If a minor is traveling with only one parent (or neither), a notarized authorization form signed by both parents is strictly required.

Do Indians need a visa for Brazil?

Yes, Indian citizens must have a valid visa when travelling to Brazil for tourism or social visits. Indians can apply for a Brazil visa at the nearest Brazilian embassy.

Can I get a Visa on Arrival in Brazil?

• No. Indian ordinary passport holders must obtain a sticker visa from the Embassy in New Delhi or the Consulate in Mumbai prior to departure.

How much is the Brazil visa fee in 2026?

• The visa fee for Indians is approximately ₹6,400 to ₹8,000, plus a VFS service charge of about ₹3,000–₹4,000.

What is the processing time?

• Typically 10 to 15 working days. However, due to the high volume following the new 10-year visa agreement, we recommend applying at least 4 weeks in advance.

Is travel insurance mandatory?

• It is not a legal requirement for entry, but the Consulate highly recommends a policy with at least USD 30,000 coverage. Immigration officers may occasionally ask for proof of medical coverage.

My passport expires in 3 years; will I still get a 10-year visa?

•  Usually, the visa validity will be capped at your passport’s expiry. To get the full 10-year benefit, it is best to apply with a fresh passport.

 Can I perform Umrah or religious activities in Brazil?

•  A standard tourist visa covers all leisure and social activities. For specific religious missions, a different visa category (VITEM VII) is required.

 Is the Yellow Fever vaccine a one-time thing?

•  Yes, as per WHO guidelines, the yellow fever vaccination provides life-long immunity. Ensure you keep your original Yellow Card safe.
