Mandatory Document Checklist

• Passport: Original passport valid for the duration of your stay. You must also provide all previous passports to demonstrate your travel history (a key factor for UK approval).

• Document Checklist: A printed copy of the checklist generated after your online application.

• Financial Proof (The “Genuine Visitor” Test):

  • Bank Statements: Original stamped statements for the last 6 months. The Home Office looks for “financial stability”—large, unexplained recent deposits are a major red flag.

  • Income Tax Returns: Acknowledgement for the last 3 assessment years.

  • Salary Slips: Last 3 to 6 months.

• Ties to India:

  • Salaried: Formal NOC/Leave letter on company letterhead detailing your role, salary, and confirmed return date.

  • Self-Employed: Business registration documents (GST/COI) and company bank statements.

• Accommodation & Itinerary: A clear plan of where you will stay and what you will visit. Confirmed flight tickets are not recommended until the visa is granted.

Important Information

• The “eVisa” Transition (Feb 25, 2026): In a massive update, starting February 25, 2026, the UK will stop issuing physical visa stickers for most visitor categories. Your visa will be digitally linked to your passport via a UKVI account. You must log in to show your status to airlines and border officers.

• Priority Services: If you are in a hurry, the Priority Service (5 working days) and Super Priority Service (24 hours) remain available at VFS Gurgaon for an additional fee.

• Standard Visitor Visa: This single visa now covers tourism, family visits, short-term study (up to 6 months), and most business activities (meetings, conferences).

Do Indians need a visa for the UK?

Yes, Indian citizens need a visa to travel to the United Kingdom (UK). You can apply for a Standard Visitor Visa, which is issued for short-term tourism or social visits.

What is the cost of a UK Standard Visitor Visa in 2026?

The 6-month visa currently costs approximately ₹12,600 – ₹13,500 (subject to exchange rate fluctuations). Long-term visas are also available: 2 years (~₹48,000), 5 years (~₹85,000), and 10 years (~₹1,06,000).

What is the processing time for Indian applicants?

Standard processing usually takes 15 to 20 working days. However, with the transition to eVisas this month, the Visa Lounge Gurgaon recommends applying at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance to avoid technical “bedding-in” delays.

Can I visit Ireland with a UK Visa?

Yes, under the British-Irish Visa Scheme (BIVS), Indian citizens holding a UK Standard Visitor Visa (marked ‘BIVS’) can travel to Ireland, provided they land in the UK first.

Is travel insurance mandatory?

What is the “India Young Professionals Scheme” (IYPS)?

This is a special 2026 lottery-style visa for Indians aged 18–30 with a degree. If selected, you can live and work in the UK for up to 2 years. The first ballot for 2026 just closed on February 19.

 What happens to my old visa sticker after February 25, 2026?

If you have an existing valid sticker visa, it remains valid. However, the UKVI recommends linking it to a digital account soon to enjoy a faster experience at the “Carrier Check” API during airport check-in.
