Mandatory Document Checklist

Australia does not require your physical passport. All documents must be high-quality color scans uploaded via your ImmiAccount.

• Passport: Clear color scans of the bio-data page, last page, and all pages with previous visas or entry/exit stamps.

• Photograph: Digital photo (35mm x 45mm), white background, 80% face coverage, taken within the last 6 months. (Note: No white shirts allowed; use a dark-colored outfit for contrast).

• Financial Proof (Critical):

  • Bank Statements: Last 6 months of personal bank statements (stamped/signed) showing a healthy, active history.

  • Minimum Balance: For a 2-3 week trip, a balance of AUD 5,000–7,000 (~₹2.8L – ₹4L) per person is recommended.

  • ITR: Income Tax Returns for the last 3 years.

• Employment Ties:

  • Salaried: NOC/Leave letter from employer and last 3 months’ salary slips.

  • Self-Employed: Business registration (GST/ITR-V) and company bank statements.

• Travel Plan: A detailed day-wise itinerary (Tour Plot), hotel bookings, and flight “reservation” (Confirmed tickets are not mandatory for the visa).

• National ID: Color scan of PAN Card (Mandatory) and Aadhaar Card.

Important Information 

• The “No Label” Visa: Australia issues an e-Visa (Grant Notice). Your visa is digitally linked to your passport number. You do not get a sticker. Always carry a printed copy of the Grant Letter.

• Biometrics Requirement: Most Indian applicants must now visit a VFS Global Biometric Collection Centre (in Okhla for Gurgaon residents) to provide fingerprints and a digital photo after submitting the online application.

• 10-Year Frequent Traveller Stream: If you travel to Australia often for business or leisure, you can now apply for the 10-year multiple-entry visa (Cost: AUD 1,480).

• Health Check for Seniors: If you are 75 years or older, a medical examination by an empanelled doctor and mandatory travel insurance are required.

 What is the official processing time for an Australian Visitor Visa in 202Currently, 75% of applications are processed within 15–25 working days. However, during peak seasons (October–December), it can extend to 40 days. We recommend applying at least 2 months in advance.

 Can I fast-track my application?

 Yes. Australia offers a “Fast Track” service for an additional fee of AUD 1,000. This typically provides a decision within 48 to 72 hours, though it does not guarantee approval.

How much is the visa application fee?

 The base fee for the Subclass 600 (Tourist Stream) is AUD 190 (~₹10,500). This must be paid online via credit/debit card on the ImmiAccount portal.

Is travel insurance mandatory for Indians?

While not legally mandatory for travelers under 75, the Visa Lounge Gurgaon strongly advises a policy with a minimum coverage of USD 50,000, as Australian healthcare is among the most expensive globally.

Can I visit New Zealand on an Australian Visa?

 No. While they are neighbors, you require a separate visa for New Zealand. However, if you have an Australian Permanent Residency (PR), you may enter NZ visa-free.

 What is the “Genuine Visitor” requirement?

 The visa officer must be convinced you intend to stay only temporarily. Highlighting your “ties to India”—such as family, a stable job in Gurgaon/NCR, or property ownership—is the best way to satisfy this requirement.

 Can I apply for a refund if my visa is rejected?

No. The Department of Home Affairs does not refund the visa application charge under any circumstances, including rejection or withdrawal of the application.
